Ocean City Salon Raising Money in Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Divine Images Salon and Day Spa at the Flanders Hotel is raising money to help childhood cancer research.

The spa is hosting a St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser April 9, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the salon.

According to the event website it has raised about 70 percent of its $2,000 goal as of Tuesday afternoon.

According to the salon’s Facebook page, it has 17 people ready to shave their heads.

St. Baldrick’s Day is named so because the events take place around St. Patrick’s Day and because participants shave their heads.

Money raised from St. Baldrick’s Day events are turned over to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which, in turn, uses the money to fund research for kids with cancer and to help the top pediatric oncologists in the U.S. guide research priorities.
