OCEAN CITY, NJ — Less than a year into his job as the Ocean City School District superintendent, it seems that Matthew Friedman may be leaving the district.

According to a report by the Bucks County Herald, Friedman is a finalist to take over as superintendent of the Quakertown Community School District.

The school board is set to vote on Friedman's appointment in a special meeting Tuesday, the Herald reported.

Ocean City Board of Education President Chris Halliday told OCNJ Daily that he had found out about Friedman's potential appointment with the publication of the Herald article on March 24.

Friedman only took over as superintendent in Ocean City last July. He replaced the interim superintendent as the district had been without a permanent one since 2021.
