OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City School District students will display artwork and perform at the third annual Arts Showcase on the Boardwalk from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Ocean City Music Pier. Admission is free, and the event will bring student work from across the district into a public setting for the community to see.

The showcase will include a range of student-created 2D and 3D media, including paintings, drawings, photography, graphic design and clay sculptures. Students also will perform during the event. According to the district, Adriana Palmer, the art and photography teacher at Ocean City High School, makes sure student work from pre-K through grade 12 is represented.

“We hope students gain a strong sense of pride and confidence by sharing their work with the community, while also developing their artistic voice through real-world experience,” said Palmer. “The showcase provides an opportunity for students to see the value of their creativity beyond the classroom, build presentation and performance skills, and feel recognized for their hard work. Just as importantly, it fosters a sense of connection and belonging, showing students that their talents have a meaningful place within the Ocean City community.”

The event will also feature a makers space, along with dance and music performances from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A reception is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Student performers are listed as Jack McAllister on rhythm guitar and vocals, Aiden Hackett on lead guitar, Jack Chickadel on lead guitar, and a second group featuring Cooper Lloyd on guitar and vocals, Ryan Shelton on drums and Miles Reischke on bass. The high school dance team is also scheduled to perform.

“We are just as excited for the Arts Showcase as our students are,” said Superintendent Dr. Christian Angelillo. “It’s an opportunity for the district to connect with the community, and for our talented students to get positive feedback from their friends and neighbors. We appreciate all that our teachers do to develop our students’ artistic talents and confidence, and events like this are an important part of that process.”
