Ocean City Theatre Company Offers Camps and Classes This Summer

Ocean City, NJ -- The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company will offer an array of camps and classes this summer, including programs that are designed for the youngest students and serve as an introduction to the performing arts, as well as classes for students with an extensive performing arts background.

“Our arts educational programming continues to grow into a rewarding part of the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company” Ocean City Theatre Company Artistic Director Michael Hartman said. “Students who participate in summer programming experience the perfect balance of learning and fun while being exposed to a professional, safe and creative environment.”

Ocean City Theatre Company's camps are open to students from across the Southern New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia region.

Below is the list of classes that are still open, but enrollment is limited the theatre company said on Thursday.

WEST SIDE STORY MASTER CLASS: JULY 11

Learn the actual Broadway style choreography from the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company’s professional Mainstage production of “West Side Story.” This class is open to students in 5th – 12th grades.

THEATRE CAMP SESSION 2: JULY 18 – JULY 29

Casting will begin the first day of camp as students prepare for a rewarding theatre experience performing the fully staged production RUMPLESTILTKSKIN PRIVATE EYE. This show is not a musical so it is a great way to feature kids who do not like to sing/dance and allows kids who have a musical theatre background the opportunity to experience a play! This camp is open to students in 3rd - 8th grades.

THEATRE CAMP SESSION 3: AUGUST 1 – AUGUST 12

Play pretend this summer at our theatre camp specially designed for younger students in Kindergarten through 4thGrade as of Fall 2016. This camp is a wonderful introduction to drama and movement for beginners and a great way for experienced kids to learn more! Participants will enjoy fun-filled theatre exercises, reader’s theatre, crafts and musical theatre routines Broadway musicals that feature kids!

MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE/MOVEMENT CLASSES: MONTH OF JULY

A specialized dance class for theatre students combines jazz technique with basic ballet knowledge to create a “Broadway” style of dance. This class will follow a jazz/ballet warm up and will have progressions and center floor work and combinations that combine stage presence with dance. Participants will also gain confidence and experience to help tackle the dance aspect of the musical theatre audition process. This class is perfect for kids who love musical theatre and want to gain more confidence with dance! We would like to encourage singer/dancers to work towards the goal of being a triple threat performer with this class! You can sign up for one or all of the classes!

DANCE MASTER CLASS SERIES: VARIOUS DATES IN AUGUST

OCTC’s Dance Master Class Series provides the perfect opportunity to learn from and share experiences with leading dance artists from the entertainment industry and world of dance education. Master classes will range from technique, improvisation, creative process and choreography and more. Sign up for one or all of the classes! Students with a strong dance background are encouraged to participate in this unique opportunity! Open to students in 6th-12th grades.

PRIVATE ACTING LESSONS Grades 6th-12th Grade

Experience one-on-one private acting lessons to perfect acting technique with trained instructors who have experience working to prepare for college auditions and school auditions. Develop personalized skills to make you a stronger, more confident performer. Private coaching can be generally technique based or targeted toward a specific role, monologue and/or upcoming audition preparation.

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS Grades 4th-12th

Experience one-on-one private vocal lessons to perfect vocal technique and singing skills with trained music instructors who have experience working to prepare for college auditions, school singing, musical theatre, classical music and choral works.
