Ocean City Updates Status Of Thursday Night's Halloween Parade

Thunderstorms are possible Thursday night.

Ocean City, NJ -- Ocean City's Halloween Parade is on, rain or shine, city officials said Thursday morning.

The parade, sponsored by the Ocean City Exchange Club, begins at 7:15 p.m., and marches down Asbury Avenue, from 6th Street to 11th Street.

In its 69th year, the parade is one of the longest-running Halloween parades in the Tri-State area. Late entries may register at 6th and Asbury beginning at 6:30 p.m.

There will be eight divisions including decorated floats competing for prizes and trophies. Several high school marching bands and the Original Hobo Band of Pitman will perform.

Rain is likely throughout the day, with thunderstorms possible for tonight. Below is the forecast, courtesy the National Weather Service:

Today: Rain likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 60. South wind 10 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. South wind around 18 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Residents are asked to bring a can of food to the parade. The Boy Scouts are assisting the local Food Cupboard by “Scouting for Food” for those in need.
