OC's Got Talent/Miss NJ/Restaurant Week: What's Happening In Ocean City In June?

A brief look at some of the events coming up in Ocean City this month.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — June is here, and spring is transitioning into summer. The ocean is unlocked and the events season is in full swing in Ocean City. So what is there to do? Check below for a brief synopsis of some of the upcoming events in Ocean City this June.

BRITISH MUSIC INVASION (June 4): The Cape Shore Chorale will perform music from the British Isles, including madrigals, Gilbert & Sullivan, and contemporary English pieces. Concert is 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2998 Bay Avenue in Ocean City. Free will offering. Refreshments will be available. TROMBONE SHORTY & ORLEANS AVENUE (June 9): Born and raised in New Orleans, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, carries on the brass jazz tradition with a modern twist. The concert begins at 8 p.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier. Tickets start at $49. Visit ticketmaster.com or call 1-800-745-3000.

OCEAN CITY RESTAURANT WEEK (June 9 to 16): Participating restaurants offer special fixed-price options, usually for two. Restaurant Week offers a great chance to sample new Ocean City dining options or to get great prices at favorite spots. Participants and specials are listed at eatinocnj.com.

SHOW US YOUR PAWS PARADE (June 10): Many of the contests from the Woofin’ Paws Pet Fashion Show move to an Ocean City Boardwalk Parade this year. Costumed dogs and other pets compete in categories such as “Best Super Hero Dog,” “Most Patriotic,” “Best Surfer Dog/Bathing Beauty,” “Pet/Owner Look-Alike,” “Best Dressed Dog,” “Best Decorated Wagon” and “Best Dressed Pet.” Contestants show off their stuff in a parade that starts at 4:45 p.m. and goes from Sixth Street to 14th Street. MISS NEW JERSEY PAGEANT (June 14 to 17): The annual pageant returns to Ocean City. The Boardwalk Parade is June 14, followed by the preliminary competitions, and the finals at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace & Boardwalk. For tickets, visit www.showtix4u.com or call 1-866-967-8167.

ESA SOUTH JERSEY DISTRICT SURF CONTEST (June 17): Sign-ups 7 a.m. at Seventh Street Beach. First heat in the water at 8 a.m. No wave date is June 24. For more information, call 609-884-5277.

DAVE MASON (June 19): Special guests Marti Jones & Don Dixon join Rock Hall of Famer Dave Mason for a concert at 7 p.m. on the Ocean City Music Pier. Mason will perform his album “Alone Together” in full – featuring such hits as “Only You And I Know” and “Look At You Look At Me.” He also will deliver hits from throughout his solo career (“We Just Disagree”), his time with Traffic (“Feelin’ Alright”) and more. FOURTH ANNUAL OC’S GOT TALENT SHOW (June 24): Talented people with backgrounds in vocal, dance, instrumental, drama, comedy, and more will compete for prizes in front of a special guest panel of judges. The show is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door with the proceeds benefiting the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company. VANESSA WILLIAMS WITH THE OCEAN CITY POPS (June 25): One of the most respected performers in the entertainment industry, Williams has hit songs that include, “Save the Best For Last,” “Dreamin’ ” and “Colors of the Wind” from Disney’s “Pocahontas.” She’ll be backed by the Ocean City Pops in the season opener for the renowned orchestra. THE TEMPTATIONS (June 26): For more than 50 years, The Temps have celebrated a rich history of smash singles. “My Girl,” “Get Ready,” “Papa Was A Rolling Stone”, “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” are among the band’s astonishing 32 Top 20 singles. FARMERS MARKET (June 28): Ocean City’s popular weekly Farmers Market opens for the season 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 28. It returns every Wednesday through Sept. 6 on the grounds of the Ocean City Tabernacle on the 500 block of Asbury Avenue. Crafters in the street on Asbury.

WACKY WEDNESDAY (June 28): Use your creativity to shape and sculpt salt water taffy into your very own unique masterpiece. Contest is free. Open to all ages. Start time is 10:30 a.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier, Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace. This year, the traditional “July Jubilee” and “Weird Week” contests will be held weekly on Wednesdays throughout the summer. For more information, call 609-399-6111.

BROADWAY ON THE OC BOARDWALK VIII (June 28): Ocean City Theatre Company's 2017 summer season takes to the Music Pier stage to bring Broadway favorites to life. OCTC will celebrate its 10th anniversary by welcoming back performers from every Mainstage production in its history. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $18 or $20.
