Operation Runner Up Nets Multiple Fugitives, Including Those From Ocean City

The two-day operation targeted fugitives wanted on municipal court warrants.

A total of 33 people were arrested on municipal court warrants issued throughout the area, including Ocean City, as part of Operation Runner-up last week.

The two-day arrest sweep targeted fugitives wanted for criminal warrants for failing to appear in Superior Court.

Elements of the Atlantic City Task Force, the United States Marshal Service Regional Fugitive Task Force, FBI Crime Against Children Task Force, Atlantic City Police Department, Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Parole, Pleasantville Police Department, Department of Homeland Security-ICE and the New Jersey State Police all partnered with the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and joined in concentrated effort to target and capture criminal fugitives.

In addition to those captured in the Atlantic City region, seven targets of the operation were arrested prior to the two day sweep, including targeted criminals arrested by Margate Police, Pleasantville Police, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, and Camden County Metro Police.
“Law Enforcement working together in removing fugitives and criminals from our community streets contributes to a safer county and a better quality of life for all of our law abiding citizens,” Atlantic County Sheriff Frank X. Balles said.

In addition to Ocean City, arrests were made on municipal court warrants out of of Atlantic City, Egg Harbor Township, Franklinville, Wildwood, Linwood, Egg Harbor City, and Pleasantville.

Two significant arrests made during the two day street sweep were:

Kenneth Crumble 26, of Atlantic City, wanted for failing to appear at sentencing for possession of a handgun and possession of hollow point bullets. When Sheriff’s Detectives spotted him on the street and identified themselves as police officers, Crumble fled on foot through a large crowd of people gathered near the Atlantic County Office Building, but he was quickly apprehended on south Tennessee Avenue by Sheriff’s Detectives Mathew Poupard, Douglas Herbert, Chris Mulholland and Officer Chris Dodson. Crumble was additionally charged by the Sheriff’s Office with resisting arrest by force. Crumble is being held without bail pending transfer to the Atlantic County Jail.

Rashad A. Salaam 20, of Pleasantville, was arrested without incident at a home in Atlantic City by Pleasantville Police Detective Sergeant Chris Taggart and Sheriff’s Detectives Timothy Brown and Dustin Widas. Salaam was wanted on warrants for robbery, aggravated assault, threats to kill, possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes issued for crimes he allegedly committed in the City of Pleasantville in July of this year. Salaam is being held in the Atlantic County Jail on $250,000.00 bail.
