Outgoing Ocean City Councilman Honored, New One Appointed

Bob Barr is leaving to take a spot in the County Board of Commissioners. He was replaced by ex-Board of Education member Dave Winslow.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Council said goodbye to one councilman and welcomed another on Thursday evening.

Bob Barr, after serving the council for seven years, stepped down to take a spot in the Cape May County Board of Commissioners. Read more: Ocean City Councilman Joins County Commissioners

He was honored with a proclamation by Mayor Jay Gillian at the latest City Council meeting.

"Ocean City will be proud to have Barr representing its interests at the county level," he said.

At the same meeting, a new Fourth Ward councilman was appointed. Dave Winslow, a former Ocean City Board of Education member, will be filling Barr's unexpired term.

Winslow was unanimously selected to fill the seat.

Barr thanked the council as well as residents of the Fourth Ward.

"It's really difficult to say goodbye to something that you love. I've loved every minute and every second of serving the Fourth Ward," Barr said. "It was the honor of a lifetime and no matter what else, it will be the greatest honor of my life."
