A Philadelphia woman who didn’t know it was illegal to bring a firearm into New Jersey even though she legally obtained it in Pennsylvania faces up to 11-and-a-half years in prison, Chasing New Jersey reports.
It was previously reported that Shaneen Allen could face three years, but the possible sentence was increased following a preliminary court hearing.
Allen, 27, legally purchased the gun in Philadelphia. However, she brought the gun into New Jersey, and when she was stopped by an officer in Atlantic County, she said she was carrying the gun.
Her permit to carry and conceal is only applicable in Pennsylvania.
