Plastic Recycling Now Available In 5 Ocean City Locations
Ocean City Intermediate School launched a new program to collect plastic recyclables.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Time to get rid of all those plastic bags. Ocean City Intermediate School launched a new program to collect plastic recyclables.
You can now drop off recyclable plastic at these five Ocean City locations:
- Ocean City Intermediate School, 18th Street and Bay Avenue
- City Hall, 9th Street and Asbury Avenue
- Henry Knight Building, 12th Street and Haven Avenue
- Ocean City Community Center, 1735 Simpson Avenue
- Shelter Road Recycling Center, Shelter Road off Tennessee Avenue
The drop-off locations are indoors and subject to building hours of operation. Plastic bags can't be placed for curbside pickup in Ocean City. Placing the wrong materials in the recycling stream can cause entire truckloads to be rejected, officials said.

A complete guide to curbside recycling do’s and don’ts is available here: www.ocnj.us/recycling. But here are a few guidelines from the City:
- Don't place your recyclables in plastic trash bags, and don't place plastic bags in your recycling.
- Throw away caps and tops from bottles, jugs and cans with your trash.
- Don't recycle beverage cups or food-contaminated containers.
- Don't recycle Styrofoam.

OCIS launched the program under the guidance of the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority.
