Port-O-Call Continues Support For Ocean City Waves Of Caring With Annual Holiday Party

Waves of Caring and Port-O-Call Hotel have joined forces for more than 23 years to raise donations for Ocean City families.

Ocean City, NJ -- The Port-O-Call Hotel will host its ninth annual private holiday party and charity event for Ocean City Waves of Caring on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The party marks 23 years of support and donations to the organization, the hotel announced this week.

Waves of Caring is a city-sanctioned program that collects and distributes new toys and gifts for children of Ocean City families near Christmas.

It has also implemented a new program called Holiday Helpings, which provides holiday meals for the most needy families in Ocean City.

The Port-O-Call has been a major contributor to the success of this program since 1993, when their efforts to collect toys and donations began with a donation bin at their small employee party.

Today, the hotel collects toys and donations at their by-invitation annual holiday party that has grown over the years to 125 guests. The donations for Waves of Caring have simultaneously grown.

The December 2015 event collected nearly 400 toys and approximately $2,700 in monetary donations for the charity organization.

“The Port-O-Call’s donations cover more than half the expenses required to run our annual toy drive. We couldn’t be more grateful to have them as a major supporter, and we look forward to joining forces to help others less fortunate once again in 2016,” Ocean City Fire Chief Jim Smith, the organization’s director, said.

“2015 proved to be a resounding success based on the record-breaking amount of monetary and toy donations we received from our generous attendees. The true spirit of giving was alive and well, which is why our event is so important to the management and staff at the Port-O-Call Hotel. We look forward to another wonderful event this year and for many years to come,” Port-O-Call Hotel Manager Glenn Losch said.

The Port-O-Call Hotel has called 1510 Boardwalk home since May 22, 1966.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel includes 98 guest rooms, a Penthouse with ocean views, and the Porthouse, a three-bedroom, two-story, fully furnished private guest house adjacent to the Hotel.

Known for its distinctive pink exterior, aka ‘the pink hotel,’ the Port-O-Call is an Ocean City landmark rising above the City’s skyline.

The hotel also offers full-service catering facilities and is home to Adelene, a 90-seat oceanfront restaurant open to the public.
