President Donald Trump To Rally In South Jersey

WILDWOOD, NJ — President Donald Trump is visiting the Jersey Shore. President Trump will hold a campaign rally at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

The rally will come a month after Congressman Jeff Van Drew voted against impeached the president and switched from the Democratic to the Republican party. President Trump endorsed Van Drew on Dec. 19 for reelection.

Van Drew told NJTV that Trump planned to visit his district soon. This is the first time President Trump will hold a rally in New Jersey since being elected president.

President Trump and Van Drew will both be up for reelection Nov. 3. Van Drew was first elected to Congress as a Democrat in 2018. The congressman only voted against the majority of House Democrats 12.1 percent of the time, according to ProPublica's measurement.

But he strayed from Democrats on key issues, such as impeachment. The House of Representatives voted to impeach President Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of justice.

The impeachment centers around President Trump allegedly withholding military aid to Ukraine to pressure the nation's president into investigating presidential candidate Joe Biden and to investigate a conspiracy theory that Ukraine — not Russia — was behind 2016 presidential election interference.

"It is ashame (sic) that the Democrats make us spend so much time & money on this ridiculous Impeachment Lite Hoax," Trump tweeted Saturday.
