OCEAN CITY, NJ — In addition to an upcoming debate between the candidates in the May 8 non-partisan mayoral election, Ocean City residents will have the chance to hear from both Mayor Jay Gillian and challenger John Flood on TV several times over the next few weeks. They are running for the open mayor's seat that carries a four-year term in the only contested election in Ocean City this spring.

Videotaped statements from both candidates will be replayed on several occasions on the city’s Government Access Channel (Channel 97 on the Comcast Cable System), city officials announced on Thursday.

In 2006, the policy of providing access to the channel for local election candidates was established. The city provides candidates the opportunity to have a statement up to five minutes long professionally recorded at their cost and then replayed on Channel 97.
