Ocean City Police and Firemen Help Kids Get to School in Flooded Streets

One resident expressed her appreciation for their efforts on Facebook.

Ocean City firemen and police surprised at least one mother who was driving her kids to school this morning.

In a Facebook post shared by the Ocean City Fire and Rescue Services, a resident describes her frustration at the flooding problems Ocean City often experiences when it rains.

“Driving the boys to school this morning I was grumbling in my head how much I hate Ocean City and its flooding problems and then was totally humbled when I pulled up to the school to find our firemen and police carrying our children from our cars into the school,” she wrote in the post, which is embedded in this story.

“Just another day and the life of a fireman,” Ocean City Fire and Rescue Services said in its post. “Carrying kids over flooded streets to get to school!”

Officials are working on flooding throughout the city. It recently approved a contract with Michael Baker International Company for survey and preliminary designs for a roadway and drainage improvement project for 26th to 34th streets, West Avenue to Bay Avenue, and will hold a town hall meeting on the north end pump station next weekend.
