Shore Medical Center Bans Visitors During NJ Coronavirus Outbreak

There are some exceptions, but the hospital will ban visitors until further notice.

SOMERS POINT, NJ — Shore Medical Center will ban visitors until further notice as New Jersey handles the spread of the novel coronavirus, a hospital spokesperson told Patch.

There are no confirmed cases of the virus in Cape May or Atlantic Counties. But many hospitals around the state have enforced similar policies to curb the spread of the coronavirus to patients, staff and the public.

  • patients in hospice or end-of-life care
  • one visitor or support person for maternity patients, pediatric patients and people undergoing same-day surgery or an ambulatory procedure

"Visitors who meet these exceptions will be screened for symptoms before being allowed to visit," said hospital spokesperson Brian Cahill.

Shore Physicians Group is consolidating its offices to serve patients. Only endocrinology and rheumatology patients will be seen in the SPG Mays Landing location. Patients should call their provider's office for an appointment time and nearby location.

Shore Urgent Care in Northfield is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
