SOMERS POINT, NJ — Shore Medical Center received nothing in the first round of federal funding for hospitals facing financial difficulties associated with the coronavirus. But the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) included Shore in its second round, giving the hospital $9.2 million.

Cape Regional Medical Center also received $6.9 million in the new round of funding, totaling $10 billion for hospitals around the nation.

Shore and Cape Regional both missed out on federal funds last spring since neither had treated 100 coronavirus patients by the April 10 deadline. Several politicians stepped in to help them secure federal funds. Read more: Politicians Aid Shore Medical's Fight For Federal Funding

Hospitals will get paid $50,000 per eligible admission, the HHS said.
