'Showboat In Concert' At The Ocean City Music Pier Sunday Night

Ocean City, NJ -- The Ocean City Pops Orchestra presents “Showboat in Concert” at the Music Pier Sunday night.

Maestro Scheible conducts a stellar cast of singers (Elisa Matthews, Cody Austin, Dominic Inferrera, Neil Nelson) and full choir (Cape Shore Chorale, Scott Breiner, Director) in this concert presentation of the popular classic musical with beautiful songs like "Make Believe," "Ol' Man River," and "Can't Help Loving That Man."

The show begins at 8 p.m.

Elisa Matthews is a singer, actor and voice teacher based in Philadelphia, according to elisamatthews.com.
A two-time Barrymore Award Nominee, Matthews recently played the role of Lily in Arden Theatre's critically acclaimed production of "The Secret Garden."

Prior to that, she starred in The Sound of Music and played Mrs Molloy in "Hello Dolly!" with Media Theatre.
This fall she will return to Media to play Francesca in "The Bridges of Madison County."

Matthews is a member of The Actors Equity Association and is a graduate of Penn State University. She is married to guitarist and music educator, Diego Maugeri.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica bass baritone Neil Nelson moved to the United States with his family at the age of 2, according to miaartists.com. His family settled in Queens, NY.

It has been said by colleagues and critics alike that Nelson possesses one of the purest and most resonant bass baritone voice of recent times.

An excellent musician and linguist, Nelson graduated from The New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in music performance.

Winning awards such as the Stephen Shrestinian Award for Excellence (Boston Lyric Opera), the Heinz Refuss Singing Actors Award (Orlando Opera), and appearing as a finalist in the New York Metropolitan Opera Auditions launched him into his professional career.

Nelson has performed operatic roles with Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Berkshire Opera, Orlando Opera, The New York Harlem Opera Theater and the Tartar State Opera Theater in Kazan, Russia.

American tenor Cody Austin is quickly becoming one of the most promising singing actors of his age, according to tenorcodyaustin.com.

A 2009 graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, his voice has been described as possessing "a warm, rich quality... produced with an evenness that's rare."

His professional debut was with the Opera Company of Philadelphia as Roderigo in Otello in 2009, where he was invited to return the following season to perform Edmondo in Manon Lescaut.

Baritone Dominic Inferrera is gaining a great deal of attention for giving voice to many different styles of music including opera, oratorio, musical theater, pop, jazz, and contemporary music, according to dominicinferrera.com.

Inferrera has enjoyed a great deal of success in many regional opera companies across the country. He won critical acclaim in the role of The Son in Hugo Weisgall's "Six Characters in Search of an Author" with Opera Festival of New Jersey, where The New York Times proclaimed him a "standout."
