Surf Fishing Tournament In Ocean City Postponed

The tournament was set for Saturday, but expected inclement weather has changed those plans.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The 42nd annual Ocean City boys and girls surf fishing tournament has been postponed one week due to expected inclement weather. The tournament, originally scheduled for Saturday, will now take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the north beach by the Ocean City-Longport Bridge.

Registration for the free tournament for youngsters ages 8-16 years old will be held from 9 a.m.-10 a.m., followed by the tournament from 10 a.m.-noon. Prizes include trophies, rods and reels, and two bicycles for the boy and girl who reel in the largest fish. For more information, call 609-814-0216.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind around 8 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. West wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
