Teacher Says This South Jersey School Endangered His Health
The teacher worked in a situation that could have "caused his death," a lawsuit states. He says he was essentially fired.

A teacher who had three kidney transplant surgeries has sued his school district which employed him, saying officials created an environment that endangered his health and could have "caused his death," according to a report.
Herbert Handy, a special education math teacher at Vineland High School, filed a lawsuit in Superior Court against the Vineland Board of Education that says school district denied the requests his doctor made to keep him healthy, according to nj.com.
The lawsuit also states Handy could have been in a situation that caused his death if he were to work in an environment without the recommended precautions, according to the report. Handy could not return to work and was, in effect, fired from his position, he says.

Handy was a teacher at the Vineland Senior High School in the "Resource Program Pull-Out Support," according to The Asbury Park Press, earning $84,194 a year.
Because of the kidney transplants, Handy's doctors recommended he take certain precautions at work, but the district gave him a different schedule and a classroom that did not coincide with the doctor's recommendations, according to the report.
