Teen Drowning Death In South Jersey As Tragic Trend Continues

Another teen has died in a water-related death this week, continuing a disturbing trend in New Jersey.

The incident happened on Tuesday at approximately 4:28 pm, when officers from Hamilton Police Department responded to the Atlantic County Park, at Weymouth Furnace, on Weymouth Road on a report of a possible drowning.

Responding units were able to determine that a 14-year old-male from out-of-state, who was at the park with his family for a picnic, had gone into the water and did not resurface, police said.

The Hamilton Dive Team and Richland Fire Department Surface Rescue Team deployed divers to search for the juvenile. After an extensive search, the boy was located and pronounced dead at the scene.

Also assisting at the scene were Atlantic County Emergency Management, Atlantic County Park Rangers, Weymouth Fire Department, Mays Landing Fire Department, Township of Hamilton Rescue and AtlantiCare Paramedics.
