Triple-Fatal Head-On Crash In South Jersey: Police

Three people were killed in a horrific crash on Friday night, police said. Two were injured.

Three people were killed in a head-on collision in South Jersey on Friday night, police said.

The crash happened at 8:47 p.m. when officers responded to a serious crash near South Hook Road and Winslow Lane in Pennsville, police said.

Upon arrival, police discovered two cars – a Hyundai Sonata and a Ford Focus – had serious damage with numerous occupants who were hurt, police said.

An investigation revealed the Sonata was traveling south on South Hook Road and the Forus was traveling north, police said. The Focus left its lane and struck the Sonata head-on.

All occupants of the Ford Focus were pronounced dead at the scene. They included the 74-year-old female driver, a 60-year-old woman who was the front-seat passenger and a 60-year-old man in the rear seats, police said.

The Sonata driver was identified as Lloyd L. Minatee, 30, of Wilmington, Del. Two small children were in the rear, including an infant and a child.

The Sonata driver and the front-seat passenger were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries. The two children were not injured.

The State Police assisted in this investigation.
