Trump Rally: Officials Expect Major Overflow In Wildwoods Center
The Wildwoods Convention Center holds 7,000. The County has heard estimates of almost 20,000 people registering to attend.

WILDWOOD, NJ — The Wildwoods Convention Center holds 7,000 people. Almost triple that may have registered to attend President Donald Trump's rally, according to estimates.
President Trump's rally takes place at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Wildwoods Convention Center. And people can still register for tickets online. Read more: How To Get Tickets For President Trump's Jersey Shore Rally
Cape May County spokesperson Diane Wieland heard estimates of close to 20,000 ticket requests.

"There are 150,000 people on any given day in the summer, so we can handle it," Wieland said. "Even the police department says, ‘we’re just going to do what we’re told.’ The good thing is it’s January 28th and not July 28th."
But it won't be your average January day in Wildwood. The Wildwood City School District already cancelled school for Jan. 28. Doors will open at 3 p.m. for the rally, which is around the time school lets out.

"Given that this is such a unique and unprecedented event, the board unanimously agreed that exercising an abundance of caution was appropriate," said Superintendent J. Kenyon Kummings. Read more: Wildwood Cancels School On Day Of Trump Rally
President Trump's campaign will handle most of the logistics for the event, Wieland said. That includes running security, although Wildwood police will also participate, she said.
"The Wildwood police department will certainly be part of it, but I’m pretty sure they’re going to be following the instruction of whoever comes in to secure the area," Wieland said.
The County has not heard any plans for overflow attendance yet. They expect the Trump campaign will do so on its website as the event gets closer.
The Trump campaign has not returned comment yet about overflow. Patch will cover more about logistics and traffic on a later date.
