Two Men Charged in Murder of Cape May County Teen: Prosecutor

Derrick Powers, 23, and Charles Mosley, 33, have been charged in connection with the murder of Nicole Angstadt.

Two men have been charged in connection with the death of a 15-year-old girl whose body was discovered in a home in Middle Township in December, - Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor, Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana said on Friday.

Derrick Powers, 23, and Charles Mosley, 33, both of the Rio Grande section of Middle Township, were arrested in connection with the death of Nicole Angstadt.

Both men were charged with first-degree murder, first-degree murder during the course of a sexual assault, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree conspiracy to desecrate a human body, third-degree hindering apprehension and third-degree hindering the apprehension of another.

Mosley was also charged with first-degree desecrating human remains and first-degree aggravated sexual assault.

Powers was also charged with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree robbery.

Mosley is lodged in the Cape May County Correction Center in lieu of $1 million cash bail.

Powers is lodged in the Atlantic County Correction Center in lieu of $1 million cash bail.

Angstadt’s body was discovered in a crawlspace of a home on Vermont Avenue in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township on Dec. 14 after it had been reported missing earlier in the month.

Mosley was allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with Angstadt.

Initially, both Mosley and Powers, as well as 20-year-old LaQuan Harris, also of Rio Grande, were arrested on unrelated charges.

At that time, Mosley was charged with second degree sexual assault of a minor between the ages of 13 and 15 years old, third degree endangering the welfare of a minor and fourth degree trespassing.

Harris and Powers were each charged with two counts of first degree armed robbery and second degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

They were allegedly involved in the robbery of nine juveniles at Mulligan Park in the Villas section of Lower Township.

They were both also allegedly involved in another robbery in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township. In that incident, the victim was allegedly struck with a handgun.
