WATCH: NJ Cop, EMTs Save Life Of Week-Old Baby
The baby, just one week old, was unconscious and unresponsive when Patrolman Chris Rudy jumped in and saved the newborn's life.

MIDDLE TWP., NJ — A Middle Township police officer's quick thinking and actions helped save the life of a newborn infant this past November.
The police department shared bodycam footage of the Nov. 28, 2024 incident, where they received a frantic 911 call about a one week old baby who was unconscious and unresponsive (watch the video below).
Patrolman Chris Rudy arrived on the scene and saw the baby's mother attempting to give CPR.

"Let me see him, let me see him," Rudy can be heard saying as he runs towards the mother and child, taking the baby from her arms. The baby was blue and cold to the touch at this point, police said. The baby's mother can be heard pleading for help.
Rudy immediately began to give the baby CPR, after which she started regaining consciousness.

At that point, the ambulance arrived, and Rudy handed the baby over to the EMTs, who continued to give the baby CPR. The baby was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Cape May Court House for further examination.
"The quick actions of Ptlm. Rudy and the team work of the Rescue Personnel played a crucial role in saving the life of the newborn," police said.
