Woman Hit Pedestrian, Then Fled In Fatal New Year's Eve Jersey Shore Crash: Cops

Marilyn Glenn, 76, hit the pedestrian in Wildwood and drove away, but later called police, according to authorities.

WILDWOOD, NJ — A woman was charged in a fatal hit-and-run on New Year's Eve in Wildwood, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Wildwood Police Chief Joseph Murphy said in a joint release.

A pedestrian, identified only as C.C. by authorities, was struck and killed on Dec. 31 in the area of West Hand Avenue and Hudson Avenue. Officials did not say what time of day the crash occurred.

Marilyn Glenn, 76, had hit the pedestrian and then fled the scene, authorities said. Sutherland and Murphy said she called police "shortly afterward," though it was unclear exactly when she contacted authorities.

On Jan. 2, she was charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death and second-degree violation of a public law intended to protect public safety.

“Leaving the scene of an accident is not only unlawful but also undermines the principles of public safety and responsibility,” Sutherland said. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim as we continue to pursue justice in this matter.”
