'World's Longest Layup Line' Raises Money For Cancer In Ocean City

The Ocean City girls basketball team walked five miles on Sunday to raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — In what they called "the world's longest layup line," the Ocean City High School girls basketball team walked across the island to raise money for cancer research and awareness.

The team hit each of Ocean City's seven courts in the five-mile walk Sunday, raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which focuses on all cancers affecting woman. It is named for famed women's basketball coach Kay Yow, who died in 2009 of breast cancer.

As the girls did layups, their balls had the names of people they were honoring on them, Coach Stephane Gaitley explained in a video shared on Twitter.
