25 Years Later, Paramus Remembers Fallen Officer

Vincent M. Brock was killed in a motor vehicle crash while responding to a fake 911 call reporting a shooting at the Garden State Plaza.

PARAMUS, NJ — Officer Vincent M. Brock was doing his duty when he died. He was on his way to a shooting at the Garden State Plaza. Or so he thought.

Brock, a Paramus police officer, died in a motor vehicle crash on Nov. 22, 1993 on his way to what turned out to be a false 911 call about a shooting at the mall.

"Vinny was a key player in the growth of this department, taking active roles in the establishment of the Paramus Police Honor Guard, communications center, and the Special Operations Team that later would become our Emergency Service Unit," the Paramus Police Department said in a Facebook post. "We will never forget the ultimate sacrifices made in the line of duty by all police officers across this nation."
