Alleged Paramus Burglars Filmed On Home Security System: Cops

Breaking: Derek Edwards, 51, and Kentrell, 32, were arrested after authorities investigated a string of Bergen County burglaries.

PARAMUS, NJ — Two men were charged with burglary after a victim's home surveillance system filmed the men during the alleged crime Dec. 14.

Derek Edwards, 51, of Paterson and Kentrell Lynch, 32, of Englewood were each charged with burglary, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg announced Friday.

Throughout November and December Paramus and other North Jersey police departments investigated a string of area burglaries and tried to identify suspects, Ehrenberg said.

The victim of a Paramus burglary Dec. 14 filmed two suspects on their home surveillance, the chief said. One man wearing a mask forced open the victim's front door, Ehrenberg said.

Detectives from the Paramus and Palisades Park Police departments and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, who were investigating similar burglaries in Palisades Park, identified Edwards and Lynch in the Paramus burglary, Ehrenberg said.

Edwards and Lynch were each arrested and charged with burglary. They were taken to the Bergen County Jail pending detention hearings.
