Bergen State Trooper Pleads Not Guilty To Assault
The Paramus native is accused of kicking a suspect in the head after a high speed chase last summer.

A New Jersey state trooper has pleaded not guilty of assaulting a suspect after a high speed chase in the summer of 2014.
NorthJersey.com reports that the trooper is fighting the charge:
Aris Varvar, 32, of Paramus, faces a charge of simple assault, a disorderly persons offense, for allegedly kicking a man in the head while the suspect was handcuffed on the ground last July.

He entered his not-guilty plea during an appearance in the Fairview Municipal Court on Wednesday, said attorney Paul Faugno. Varvar is due back in court May 6 for a status conference, his attorney said.
Varvar has been a trooper since 2008 and is currently suspended without pay, according to the report.
