Black Bear Sighting In Paramus: Police
Paramus Police reported the bear sighting in the area of Columbine Road on Wednesday afternoon.
PARAMUS, NJ — A black bear was sighted in the area of Columbine Road on Wednesday afternoon, police say.
In a tweet, Paramus police announced the sighting, and asked anyone who sees the bear to contact the police department.

According to a report from Northjersey.com, state records show that reports of black bears have nearly doubled in 2020 as compared to 2019. A graphic shows that reports are up in Bergen County as well.

According to the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife there have been 147 bear sightings in the period between Jan. 1 and June 20 of 2020.
In Bergen County, overall bear incident reports are up to 21 in 2020 compared to just nine in 2019.
