"Bully Shield" Anti-Bullying Seminar
"Bully Shield" Anti-Bullying Seminar at Tiger Schulmann's Mixed Martial Arts in Paramus, NJ on Saturday, October 18 from 1:00-2:00 PM

“Bully Shield” FREE 2-part Anti-Bullying Seminar will be held at Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts in Paramus on Saturday, October 18 from 1:00-2:00 PM.
Bully Shield is a fun, informative and effective seminar in empowering victims and weakening bullies. Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial arts helps kids, parents and even school boards increase the effectiveness of their anti-bullying policies through this seminar, led by anti-bullying professionals. Since its establishment in 1984, Tiger Schulmann’s has systematically developed effective solutions to combat bullying from several angles.
An important factor which differentiates the Tiger Schulmann’s approach is: we demonstrate the 3 stages of bullying, beginning with “testing for weakness.” If a bully detects weakness in his or her ‘prey’, they feel it is safe to escalate their intimidation. This is the optimal time to prevent bullying. Tiger Schulmann’s Bully Shield instructors involve the audience and use role-playing to help boys and girls alike recognize bullying early and teach the most effective verbal responses to end it simply, quickly, and without incident!
Bully Shield instructor also demonstrates that bullying is not acceptable behavior and that bullies aren’t “cool.” He or she demonstrates that bullies are insecure, seek social status through strength, but lacks the confidence to challenge peers of equal or greater strength. By essentially outing the bully’s behavior and motivation to their entire peer group, we make it embarrassing and socially unacceptable to bully!
Bully Shield is unique because the presenter is someone the kids think is cool: a professional martial artist, a black belt. In the same way that public service announcements given by celebrities are effective, information about bullying presented by a black belt will also receive a higher level of acceptance and respect. Bullies idolize strength. During Bully Shield, they have an icon of strength proving to them that bullying is actually weak.
Bully Shield promises to be fun, informative and effective in empowering victims and weakening bullies. Plus, Tiger Schulmann’s maintains one predominant philosophy: physical contact is only meant for self-defense and bullying can be conquered by other means.
