Central Unitarian Church presents "Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Health Care" on Friday evening, March 20

Directed by award-winning documentary filmmakers Matthew Heineman and Susan Froemke

The Social Action Committee of Central Unitarian Church presents ”Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Health Care” on Friday evening, March 20, at 7:30. “Escape Fire” (2012) examines the powerful forces maintaining the status quo, a medical industry designed for quick fixes rather than prevention, for profit-driven care rather than patient-driven care. A movement to bring innovative high-touch, low-cost methods of prevention and healing into our high-tech, costly system is finally gaining ground. Award-winning filmmakers Matthew Heineman and Susan Froemke follow dramatic human stories as well as leaders fighting to transform healthcare at the highest levels of medicine, industry, government, and even the U.S. military. The film is 95 minutes long and rated PG. Doors open at 7 p.m. Refreshments are served, and donations are gratefully accepted.

Central Unitarian Church, Bergen County’s liberal religious community, is located at 156 Forest Ave., Paramus, about one-mile north of Route 4. Convenient parking is provided, and the building is wheelchair accessible. The church offers an array of music, worship, education, community service, public advocacy, and fellowship programs year-round. Visit cucparamus.org or call 201-262-6300 for more information.
