Council to Introduce Budget at Tuesday Meeting

Property taxes increasing by no more than $21 on average

The Borough Council will introduce a budget Tuesday that will by less than $21 per average home assessed at $537,000, according to budget committee chairman Alan Brundage.

The budget will also decrease spending by $428,000.

This is the first year the Borough is working under a 2% cap, imposed by Gov. Chris Christie, on the amount it could increase spending. Because the Borough is under that cap, it can bank about $1 million toward next year's budget, when a $6 million pension payment that was deferred in 2009 comes due.
