Buskin & Batteau in Concert

David Buskin & Robin Batteau bring
their “irresistible amalgam of melodic,
sensual pop, folkie
grit and killer
wit
” (The Washington Post) to The Acoustic Café Music Series in Park Ridge,
NJ on Saturday, March 9th. Accompanied by percussionist Marshal Rosenberg,
B&B will perform favorites from their eclectic repertoire, ranging from the
classically-oriented pyrotechnics of
Batteau’s “Boy With the Violin” to the ethnically incorrect silliness of
Buskin’s “Jews Don’t Camp.” They will also be playing selections from their
newest CD, Love Remembered/ Love Forgot,
which features guest appearances by Tom Rush and Jonatha Brooke, among
others. The CD debuted at #5 on the national folk charts and continues to enjoy
significant airplay  worldwide.
The
classically-trained artists have been Clio-winning jingle writers (“The
Heartbeat of America” for Chevrolet, “All Aboard Amtrak” & “I’m Lovin’ It”
for McDonald’s, among others) and their songs
have been recorded by such artists as Judy Collins, Astrud Gilberto,
Johnny Mathis, Bette Midler, Anne Murray, the Oak Ridge Boys, Peter, Paul &
Mary and Tom Rush. With their mix of talent, showmanship, Everly-crisp vocal
harmonies and what Stephen Holden of The
New York Times
called their “by turns
acerbic, funny and plaintive
” music and commentary, Buskin & Batteau are
consummate entertainers in their own right.

For their work in the nonprofit sector, they have each
been honored with the World Folk Music Association's Kate Wolf Award, having
devoted their time and energies to: WHY (World Hunger Year); CauseEffective;
Save The Whales/Ocean Alliance; and Paul Newman's Hole-In-The-Wall Camps.

As a duo, Buskin
& Batteau have performed on London street corners, in New York’s Carnegie
Hall and at folk festivals throughout the U.S.
They also have shared Grammy, Emmy and Gold Record Awards and have
performed and recorded with a host of Americana favorites.  Buskin & Batteau also host a three-hour
show called “Radio B & B” which airs every other Friday, from 3-6 p.m., on
WPKN-FM (Bridgeport), which is streamed live at www.wpkn.org
