Fair Lawn Man Arrested For Rt. 4 DWI Crash In Paramus: Prosecutor

Herbert Reynoso, 24, allegedly crashed into another vehicle and then flipped over on Route 4 West early Sunday morning, authorities said.

PARAMUS, NJ — A Fair Lawn man was charged with driving while intoxicated and assault by auto after he crashed his Audi into another vehicle and Route 4 early Sunday morning, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office announced.

Paramus police officers responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 4 West between Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday morning, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

Initial reports indicated that Vladmir Diaz was driving a 2006 Jeep Cherokee in the center lane when he was hit from behind by a 2011 Audi A4, Calo said.

Herbert Reynoso, 24, was driving the Audi when it hit Diaz's Jeep, Calo said. The Audi went another 800 feet then it struck a utility pole and overturned, Calo said. Reynoso was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Diaz's vehicle hit a utility pole. He was also taken to HUMC where he is listed in critical condition, Calo said.

Reynoso was charged with aggravated assault, assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving. He is being held in the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in county Central Judicial Processing Court Monday.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. More information will be released later on, Calo said.
