2-Alarm Fire Engulfs Paramus Home Monday, Appears Accidental: Police

The fire started at about 9:30 a.m. and the homeowner was able to get out, a witness said.

PARAMUS, NJ — A two-alarm fire broke out at an Alden Road home Monday morning.

The fire started at about 9:30 a.m., said Anthony Locicero, who lives two houses down from where the fire occurred.

Flames shot out of the front of the house.

"I smelled the smoke and heard lots of noise, so I ran outside and saw the house on fire," Locicero said. "The homeowner was already out of the house."

Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said that the house was "fully engulfed" in flames and that the residents got out.

Locciero said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

The homeowner was taken to Valley Hospital with minor injuries, said Ehrenberg. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities are investigating the cause and origin of the fire, but it appears accidental, Ehrenberg said.
