Garden State Plaza Donation Resurrects Paramus Fireworks

Annual celebration canceled last year due to lack of funds

The Paramus Fourth of July Fireworks are coming back.

Mayor Richard LaBarbiera announced at Tuesday night's Mayor and Council Meeting that the annual event, canceled last year due to a lack of funds, was returning thanks to a donation from the .

Steve Roche, general manager at the mall, and Lisa Hermann, marketing manager, presented an oversized ticket to LaBarbiera inviting Paramus residents to the fireworks celebration.

"We're really pleased to be a part of bringing this alive for one and all," Roche said.

LaBarbiera thanked the mall's management for stepping forward to foot the bill for the fireworks. The Garden State Plaza already hosts the block party that precedes the fireworks.

"We can't think of a better partner than Westfield to join us in this venture," LaBarbiera said.

Councilwoman Cathy Bentz announced a few details about the Fourth of July Parade, including the grand marshalls: Paramus Police officers Rachel Morgan and Ryan Hayo.

"They more than deserve this recognition and we're truly honored to have them lead the parade this year," Bentz said.

The fireworks are scheduled for July 3 at the Sports Complex, with a rain date of July 10. 

"I hope you all have a great Fourth of July," Roche said.
