WATCH: Injured Bear Tranquilized, Falls Out Of Paramus Tree
The bear had a minor injury on one of its paws, a state spokeswoman said. It was later treated and released.
PARAMUS, N.J. — The injured bear that took refuge in a tree on Stella Court fell out of the tree after it was tranquilized Wednesday morning. It has since been treated and released.
The 191-lbs. bear had a minor injury on one of its paws and climbed up the tree, said Caryn Shinske, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection.
The bear was shot with a tranquilizer dart and fell to the ground, Shinske said. Such a response is standard procedure for a situation like this one. The bear was treated and released at the Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Management Area in Morris County.
The bear was first seen in Washington Township at around 8 p.m. Tuesday, CBS2 reported.
