Mosque Application Continues

Objector testifies

The Planning Board heard testimony from Francine Mitchell-Winters, in objection to an application to open the Borough's first mosque Thursday.

Winters testified on behalf of her and her parents' business, Mitchell Realty Associates, at 22 Madison Ave. The proposed mosque would be located around the corner at 28 Farview Terrace.

She provided a history of the development of the property.

"I'm objecting to the proposed mosque development not only as the property owner but also on behalf of the tenants in my building," she said.

Most of the tenants are medical offices.

The crux of the application hinges on parking. The Borough requires 66 spots for a house of worship, while 32 are available at the site.

Robert Inglima, the attorney representing Mitchell Realty, will present two more witnesses when the application continues.

The Planning Board will next hear hte application May 5.
