Paterson Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Route 17

A man driving a motorcycle was killed Thursday morning when the bike collided with a tractor trailer traveling on Route 17 North in Paramus.

Adrian Rodriguez, 28, of Paterson was pronounced dead at the scene, said Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg.

According to police, Rodriguez was driving his 2003 Honda 600 motorcycle from Route 4 eastbound onto Route 17 north and collided with a 2008 Peterbilt tractor trailer carrying concrete drain pipes which was traveling in the right lane.

The motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the trailer just in front of the rear tires, said Ehrenberg.

No charges have been filed against the operator of the tractor trailer however the investigation is still ongoing, said Ehrenberg.

Rodriguez had been driving with a suspended drivers license, according to Ehrenberg.

The accident occurred just before 7 a.m., Ehrenberg said. Route 17 northbound was shut down causing traffic to back up for miles. The roadway was reopened at 11 a.m.
