Need a Department Head? They're at the Mayor and Council Meetings
The Borough's department heads have been asked to attend all the Mayor and Council meetings.

If it seems like there are more people at Mayor and Council meetings than there were last year, it's because there are.
Since the beginning of the year, the governing body has asked all the department heads to attend the meetings, to answer not only their questions, but also queries from the public.
"I'm hopeful that in the coming meetings that there will be constructive questions," Mayor Richard LaBarbiera said.

In the past, he said, when someone from the public asked a question of the Mayor and Council, they'd have to wait for an answer as the members of the governing body went back to ask the department heads. With the department heads in the room, residents can get answers immediately.
On the flip side, LaBarbiera hopes that department heads will be able to ask questions of the governing body. He's seen the same policy successfuly applied in other municipalities.

The presence of the department heads hasn't led to an obvious bump in attendance at the Mayor and Council meetings, but LaBarbiera hopes it will.
"I think people will ask questions sooner rather than later," he said.
