New Members Named to Diabetes Foundation Board of Trustees

Diabetes leaders at BD added to board of NJ's premier nonprofit helping those with diabetes live healthier lives

HACKENSACK, NJ – July 23, 2019 – The Diabetes Foundation, New Jersey’s premier not-for-profit organization that empowers individuals living with diabetes, has announced the addition of Elaine Tam and Stanislav Glezer, MD, MBA leading diabetes experts at BD (Becton Dickinson and Company), to its Board of Trustees. As Worldwide Director, Safety & Syringe Franchises, BD Medical – Diabetes Care; and Global Vice President, Medical Affairs, Diabetes Care, respectively, Tam and Glezer bring diabetes insight from one of the world’s largest medical technology companies to the Foundation’s board.

“The addition of these two veterans of the health discovery, diagnostic, and care delivery segments of healthcare brings a new level of insight and understanding to the Foundation’s mission to support, encourage and advocate for those living with diabetes,” said Michael J. Sullivan, Chairman of the Diabetes Foundation's Board of Trustees and a Managing Partner with Sullivan Greenberg Associates. “BD has been a long-standing partner to the Diabetes Foundation, and we appreciate that these two consummate professionals have agreed to bring their experience, expertise, and valuable counsel to our organization.”

Elaine Tam, a resident of Wayne, NJ and part of BD since 2003, currently serves as the Worldwide Director, Safety and Syringe Franchises for BD Medical’s Diabetes Care group. In that capacity, she is the global marketing owner of BD’s safety injection and syringe business. Tam is responsible for driving the three to five year global strategy for the company’s safety injection and insulin syringe franchises, including support of new product development and innovation that addresses the company’s growth strategy and user unmet needs. Prior to that, she served as the Associate Director for the same area and spent a number of years working in the Preanalytical Systems division of BD Diagnostics. Tam received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University’s College of Engineering and an MBA in marketing and management from the Columbia Business School.

“In more than a decade and a half at BD, I have been able to see the power that innovation and technology has in the treatment of a range of diagnoses and conditions. In the past three years, I have been directly involved in the development of innovative products that are making a direct impact on the lives of those living with diabetes, and am looking forward to sharing that experience and knowledge with this worthy organization,” said Tam. “I am truly excited to bring my enthusiasm and expertise in this area to the Diabetes Foundation.”

Dr. Stanislav Glezer is BD’s Global Vice President, Medical Affairs, Diabetes Care, a position he assumed in September 2018 following his tenure as Chief Medical Officer at ADOCIA, a French, clinical-stage biotech company, based in Lyon, operating in the diabetes and metabolic disease field. Glezer is a health professional and an industry veteran with hands-on in-depth experience in multiple functions at the strategic and operational level. His personal mission is to improve public health through increasing medical industry efficiency as a partner to the healthcare system. Before his work at BD and ADOCIA, Dr. Glezer worked with a number of leading domestic and international pharmaceutical companies, including Novo Nordisk, Sanofi, Berlex Laboratories, and Teva Pharmaceuticals. He received his Doctor of Medicine Degree, with honors, in General Medicine from the Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, and is a graduate of California Coast University with an MBA degree in international business.
