NJ Transit Awards $500K Contract to Local Firm

TranSystems to help inspect 15 bridges

A transportation company with offices in Paramus received a $566,287 contract from NJ Transit to perform in-depth structural inspections of rail bridges.

Together with HNTB Corporation of New York and Hardesty & Hanover of West Trenton, NJ Transit tasked TranSystems, with offices at 45 Eisenhower Rd., with inspecting 15 bridges.

NJ Transit is responsible for maintaining 659 rail bridges, which carry trains over roads and waterways. The public transportation company inspects each bridge annually, but periodically contracts companies like TranSystems to perform more in-depth inspections.

Such inspections can include examining underwater bridge piers and foundations. NJ Transit uses the information from these inspections to develop maintenance plans for the rail bridges.

TranSystems is a transportation consulting firm based in Kansas City, Mo., with nearly 1,000 employees in 41 offices throughout the country.
