October: ShopRite of Hoboken to Host a Full Roster of Health and Wellness Events During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Calendar Features Cold and Flu Prevention Offerings

ShopRite of Hoboken, an Inserra Supermarkets store, is hosting a full roster of wellness and health events throughout October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The store’s new registered dietitian, Elisabeth Holtzer, R.D., will lead each of the LiveRight offerings and provide easy-to-implement nutrition and wellness advice, including tips on cold and flu prevention. All programs are free, open to the public, held at ShopRite of Hoboken and do not require advance registration, unless otherwise noted:

Sat., Oct. 3 & Sun., Oct. 4 – Gluten and Allergen Free Expo at the Meadowlands Exposition Center, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Dietitians will be on-site at the Gluten and Allergen Free Expo, providing health and wellness information and offering gluten-free snacks. The Meadowlands Exposition Center is located at 355 Plaza Drive in Secaucus.

Mon., Oct. 5 – Kids’ Culinary Workshop, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Please note space is limited, and pre-registration, at the Courtesy Counter, is required. Bring the little chefs to join ShopRite’s in-store dietitian and culinary chef in creating a healthy, flavorful meal. This month’s class has a “Cooking Monsters” theme. The cost is $20 per child with an adult and $10 for each additional child.

Thurs., Oct. 8 – Adult Culinary Workshop, 7 – 9 p.m. Please note space is limited, and pre-registration, at the Courtesy Counter, is required. Join ShopRite of Hoboken’s in-store dietitian and culinary chef in creating a healthy, flavorful meal as part of our Culinary Workshop Series. This month’s theme is “One Pot Meals.” The cost is $20 per person.

Mon., Oct. 12 & 26 – Dinner in 30 Minutes or Less, 4 – 6 p.m. No time to create a healthy dinner? Think again! Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner to learn how to create a nutritious, easy meal in 30 minutes or less. This event features Banza Pasta, and samples will be available.

Tues., Oct. 13 – All Pumpkin Everything, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Pumpkins are more than just a staple at Halloween time. Come learn just how delicious pumpkin can be and how to add it to some of your favorite foods.

Wed., Oct. 14 – Fall in Love with Fall Produce Picks, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Stop by the Produce Department to sample a delicious recipe using our weekly produce pick.

Thurs., Oct. 22 – Immune Powering Foods, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. With cold and flu season right around the corner, the time is right to learn about immune powering foods. Drop by the Dietitian’s Corner for all the info and samples too.

Fri., Oct. 23 – Food Day: Apple Crunch, 4 – 6 p.m. Food Day is a national event promoting real food as a key way to address health and environmental issues. This year’s theme is “Toward a Greener Diet.” Stop by the Produce Department to help us celebrate and sample a recipe featuring fresh, local apples.

Thurs., Oct. 29 – Fall in Love with Fall Produce Picks, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Stop by the Produce Department to sample a delicious recipe using our weekly produce pick.

Fri., Oct. 30 – LiveRight with ShopRite Kids’ Day: Halloween Edition, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. & 5 – 6 p.m. Please note space is limited, and pre-registration, at the Courtesy Counter, is required. Join Elisabeth, ShopRite’s registered dietitian, to create a spooky – but healthy! – snack in celebration on Halloween.
