Paramus Approves Several Employee Positions

Assemblywoman Connie Wagner and Senator Bob Gordon arrived at Tuesday's Paramus Borough Council meeting with a $79,881 check in hand.
The grant, awarded by the Department of Environmental Protection, encourages recycling efforts. In Bergen County, Paramus came in second in a list of towns recycling most.
The Council also welcomed several new employees to town.

Council members approved an ordinance to create a combined manager/supervisor position for Paramus Golf Course. was hired for the position in July.
In the past, manager and supervisor were two separate positions, but the Council “found the right person for both jobs,” Councilman Michael Rohdieck said.

Council members approved a resolution authorizing the appointment of Judith Migliaccio as health officer/director. Migliaccio is currently the assistant health officer.
The board also approved a resolution to appoint Shuaib Firozvi as part-time Chief Financial Officer. Firozvi has entered into a month-by-month agreement until a full-time employee is hired.
Since Firozvi will receive $60,000 annually compared to a full-time salary of $120,000, the Borough is saving money, Mayor Richard LaBarbiera said.
Firozvi is already employed as CFO in the village of Northvale and the town of Kearny. He will work in Paramus 20 hours per week.
