Paramus Smash-And-Grab Burglar Caught After APB Issued: Police

PARAMUS, N.J. — A burglar who allegedly robbed and stole $3,000 from two borough businesses last week has been arrested, police said.

Three smashed storefront glass doors were discovered at the strip mall at 501 Route 17 southbound at 7 a.m. July 6, said Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg.

SuperJuice Nation and Supercuts were two of the businesses and $3,000 was taken from them, the chief said. No cash was taken from PetValue store.

Detective Nicholas Luciano found video footage of a man as he committed the burglaries, police said. Luciano issued a statewide all points bulletin pictures of the man.

The Madison Police Department notified Paramus police that they could identify the man, Mark Piacenza of Bloomfield; Piacenza was wanted in Madison for similar crimesEhrenberg said.

Piacenza was being held by the Newark Police Department on unrelated charges, police said.

On Monday, Luciano interviewed Piacenza, who admitted to the burglary and led police to the SuperJuice safe and some other proceeds from the burglaries, Ehrenberg said. He was charged with two counts of burglary and attempted burglary.

Piacenza was booked, processed, and remanded to the Essex County Jail on $10,000 bail, police said.
