Bergen County Cop Crashes Into Civilian Car, Flipping It Over: Police

A Paramus police officer crashed into a woman's car on Tuesday night, causing it to overturn, cops said.

PARAMUS, NJ — A Paramus police officer crashed into a civilian driver on Tuesday evening while responding to a call, police said.

According to Chief Robert Guidetti, an officer was responding to a report of an emotionally disturbed person around 5:15 p.m. The officer was traveling eastbound on Ridgewood Avenue in the area of Highland Avenue and collided with another driver.

The second car, a 2021 Toyota Highlander operated by a 62-year-old woman from Washington Township, overturned.

Paramus Police Detectives and the Department’s Crash Investigation Unit are investigating.

Both drivers were taken to The Valley Hospital to be treated for pain and non-life threatening injuries, Guidetti said.

The investigation is continuing, he said. No more information was available.
