Paramus Cop Finds Stolen Car, Driver At Hotel

Carvin Gilot, 28, pulled his jacket over his head to try and hide from police, authorities said.

PARAMUS, NJ — Police charged a New York man with theft after an officer found him trying to hide under his coat in a hotel parking lot Thursday morning.

Officer Brian Doughty was patrolling the Courtyard by Marriott at 320 Route 17 North just after 2:30 a.m. when he saw Carvin Gilot, 28, of Thiells, New York pull his jacket over his head while sitting in a gold 2011 BMW, said Deputy Police Chief Robert Guidetti.

Doughty thought Gilot tried to hide himself under his coat, Guidetti said.
