Paramus House Uninhabitable After 2-Alarm Fire: Police
Authorities were at the scene for hours early Thursday morning.

PARAMUS, NJ — A Spring Valley Road home is uninhabitable after a two-alarm fire broke out there early Thursday morning, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the scene at 2:35 a.m. and found a "deep-seated, fully-involved," fire in the basement, said Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg. Two fire engines and a fire truck responded to the first alarm.
A second alarm was sounded four minutes later and two more fire engines and a fire truck responded to the scene, along with Paramus EMS personnel, the chief said.

All of the house's occupants evacuated and were safe and not hurt when police first arrived, Ehrenberg said.
Authorities knocked the fire down and had it under control by 3 a.m., but personnel were at the scene until almost 6:15 a.m., the chief said.

The Paramus Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the cause, but the fire does not appear to be suspicious, Ehrenberg said.
Fire units from Maywood, Washington Township, Fair Lawn and New Milford covered Paramus while borough firefighters responded to the blaze.
