Paramus Police Help Rescue Owl Tangled In Net

The owl was trapped in a soccer net at Paramus Catholic High School.

PARAMUS, N.J. — A borough police officer and a retired colleague helped free an Great Horned owl that was trapped in a soccer net at Paramus Catholic High School Oct. 17.

Officer Dean Avagnano and retired Sgt. Brian Niland responded to the scene to help free the owl.

Tyco Animal Control, the animal control agency the borough contracts with, brought the owl to a rehabilitation center in Franklin Lakes to be cared for, police said.
